Information Session: Dementia or an Aged related condition

Approximately 1.2 million people in Australia are involved in the care of someone with dementia or an aged related condition and every carer’s circumstances and experiences are unique. They could be any age or background, caring for someone full time, part time or on occasion. They may be trying to juggle their own family and or work life whilst caring for the person.

Anyone at any time can become a carer and sometimes it’s not by choice. All too often carers are thrust into a world of information overload. They are faced with a whole new world they have never had to enter before, from accessing My Aged Care, filling out forms from the various providers to Centrelink and then finding suitable services. Stress often takes hold and the carer becomes overwhelmed. Sydney Community Services would like to assist carers by taking some of the unknown out of Aged Care by providing an information session.

If you are a carer you are invited to a free information session to be held in Hunters Hill. The session will include speakers from: My Aged Care speaking on how to find services / providers, a Counsellor speaking on Wellness and Mindfulness and two carers sharing their challenges and experiences as  carers and the benefits from attending a Carers group. Time will be allowed for questions and morning tea will be provided.
