International Women’s Day - Women in Business Forum

Come along to the Ryde International Women’s Day Forum to hear from women who are recognised for making a change in the community. 

The International Women’s Day Forum highlights the City of Ryde’s commitment to supporting women’s leadership in taking on the challenges that face women in the community. The Forum is designed to be informative, interactive and entertaining with experienced guest speakers sharing their stories and insights into women’s leadership. 

The Forum includes:

  • Guest speakers
  • Panel featuring science and business leaders
  • Q&A session
  • Mentor walk
  • Light lunch 

The Forum is being run in partnership with CSIRO.

Andrea Watson

Andrea Watson

Andrea Watson is the Founder and CEO for tech company Sparrows track and monitors freight and assets for APAC’s leading brands. They are giving many companies in Australia and New Zealand the much needed control over their supply chain. This new technology is changing the way supply chains are managed and enhancing client and supplier relationships. Sparrows has been exclusively chosen for the Blue Chilli accelerator program Xcelerate.

Andrea has an extensive and proven background in Finance, Accountancy and Information systems. She has managed large projects in change management and financial operations for large corporations in a variety of international settings. She has a broad experience in multiple industries which has helped her develop the knowledge base and skill set to take on the start-up, innovation industry.

Dr Cathy Foley

Cathy Foley

Dr Cathy Foley is CSIRO’s Chief Scientist. Prior to her appointment, she was Deputy and Science Director of CSIRO Manufacturing and worked with the team in helping Australian manufacturing transform to be globally competitive by adopting Australian science and to build new companies to assist with research translation for economic prosperity.

As Chief Scientist, Dr Foley’s priorities are promoting science collaboration, STEM and women in science. Dr Foley has an extensive science background and is a world-renowned physicist and science leader most noted for her work developing superconducting devices and systems which have assisted in unearthing over $6 billion in minerals worldwide.

The Forum is proudly supported by the City of Ryde’s Status of Women Advisory Committee.
