Making and Breaking Ships near Kissing Point Talk (FULLY BOOKED)

This event is fully booked. 

For millennia the shores of the Parramatta River saw the construction of innumerable ‘nawi’ by the Wallumedegal and from the 1790s European shipbuilding became common. 

At the end of WWI, ship breaking also became an important yet now forgotten industry. Traces of all these activities can still be seen if you know where to look. 

Dr Peter Mitchell will explore some of these stories in an illustrated lecture.
