Rock 'n' Magic II

What do rock and roll, magic tricks and refugees have in common? On Saturday 7 November Iranian asylum seeker and professional magician and illusionist, Ariento along with members of the retro rock band “Old Play” will be donating their time and talents for a good cause. They will be performing in “Rock ‘n’ Magic II” in St. Anne’s Ryde Auditorium, to support Anglicare’s work with refugees and asylum seekers. Anglicare is the urban mission and welfare arm of the Anglican Church and will lead the Church’s contribution to the Syrian refugee resettlement program next year.

As well as being entertained, those who attend “Rock ‘n’ Magic II” will learn about the current situation of refugees and asylum seekers in Australia and overseas. Amelia Savage, Anglicare’s Asylum Seeker Outreach Worker, will share from her experience coordinating practical care offered by Anglican Churches to some of the most vulnerable recent arrivals to Australia.

The first “Rock ‘n’ Magic” event was held in March 2014 to raise funds to help Asylum seekers in the Ryde Community. This year’s event has a wider scope.

This will be a great night of music, magic and information.
