School Holiday Guided Walk: Nature Kids Walk - Darvall Park

This fun activity will amuse, entertain and educate your little ones in one of Sydney’s hidden little gem. Come along and meet ranger Sarah for a fun morning together in nature. This will be a fun and engaging activity for children and their parents/carers to do in nature as well as learning to know better their own neighbourhood. We will read a story, go on a bush walk and participate in some fun bush craft. 

Parking: Parking available in surrounding local streets.
Meeting Point: Outside the amenities building in Darvall Park (near the picnic shelters). This walk will start and conclude at the same location

  • Easy grade walk suitable for families with pre-school or primary school aged children who are competent walkers.
    Walk distance is approximately 1.5 km in duration so a basic level of fitness and mobility is required. This walk is conducted on a combination of paths and tracks and may include some occasional uneven ground, grass surfaces and road crossings.
  • This walk is not stroller/pram friendly.
  • All children must be accompanied and supervised by a parent/carer.
  • No dogs or pets.
  • No smoking.

Equipment: Please bring your own water, reusable water bottle and sunscreen.
Clothing: Must be suitable for physical activity. Hats must be worn. Bring a jacket in the event of inclement weather.
Footwear: Shoes must be sturdy, enclosed, have a non-slip sole and suitable for physical activity. Thongs, sandals and open toed shoes are not permitted. 
Bookings: Essential. Book early as places are strictly limited.

Dr. Sarah Brikké

Dr. Sarah Brikké is the Founder of Healing with Nature. She is an environmental educator and consultant, an energetic healer and is currently training to be a Forest Therapy Guide. She has successfully completed her PhD in the field of environmental psychology / environmental education, researching the benefits of nature on children (Griffith University, Australia). Healing with Nature is about connecting people to themselves and to nature. Our mission is to tackle mental health issues and increase people's wellbeing thanks to an immersion in nature. We offer three kinds of services: 1) immersions in nature through mindful nature walks; 2) Energetic Healing (Reiki); 3) Australian Bush Flowers Consultations. We believe that being connected to nature has a profound power to change our mindsets, behaviours, attitudes, and emotions in order to live a happy, joyful, loving, healthy and fulfilling life.
