City of Ryde and the Ryde Hunters Hill Domestic Violence Committee came together to Make a Stand to end violence and abuse.
In 2020, Make a Stand activities were centred around the United Nations’ 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. An annual international campaign that kicks off on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and ends on 10 December, Human Rights Day.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions around large gatherings, Council held a range of virtual activities, told the stories of those impacted by domestic and family violence, and put the spotlight on organisations that are here to help.
If you or someone you know is experiencing any form of violence, there is 24/7 free and confidential support available. Please call the Domestic Violence Hotline on 1800 656 463 or 1800 RESPECT on 1800 737 732.
You can show your support for the Make a Stand Campaign to end violence and abuse by downloading a selfie sign(PDF, 345KB) or download the Facebook filter, taking a selfie and posting to Instagram or Facebook using the hashtag #MakeAStand and tagging @CityofRyde.
