On Australia Day, we come together as a nation to celebrate our diverse society and landscape, our remarkable achievements and our bright future. Aside from kids' rides, entertainment, fireworks, and food trucks and staple Aussie foods, the annual Ryde Citizen of the Year Awards will also presented at a special Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony.

A celebration of one of our district’s most famous citizens, Maria Ann Smith aka Granny Smith, the Granny Smith Festival was started in 1985 and has become one of Sydney's largest street festivals. A true community carnival, full of colour and good old fashioned fun, the festival attracts over 90,000 attendees each year and is supported by local businesses, sporting and service organisations, schools and the wider community.
