Waterloo Road, Macquarie Park Stormwater Culvert (Drain) Repairs

The City of Ryde is repairing the stormwater culvert (drain) underneath Macquarie Shopping Centre between Waterloo Road and Talavera Road, Macquarie Park. The works are part of Council’s Bridge Rehabilitation Program and will benefit the lifespan of the drain.

What will the works INVOLVE?

The works involve concrete repairs inside the drain along its full length. Equipment to support the works will be set up in a site compound located off Waterloo Road next to Shrimptons Creek. The location of the drain and site compound is provided on the map over the page.

how will traffic be affected?

To establish the site compound, delivery of site materials and equipment will occur during a single night shift to minimise the impact on daytime traffic and pedestrians. Parking and traffic in Cottonwood Crescent will be temporarily restricted and pedestrian management will be in place around the site compound area. During ongoing completion of the works, deliveries to the site compound will occur from Waterloo Road via the shared user path during normal operating hours. Whenever access or parking cannot be maintained further notification will be provided from Council’s contractor in advance.


The works are due to commence in mid May 2022 and be completed by December 2022, weather permitting. Construction hours are typically Monday to Friday between 7:00am and 5:00pm, and Saturdays between 8:00am and 4:00pm.
