Bennelong Park

Bennelong Park is named in honour of Woollarawarre Bennelong (c.1764 - 1813), a Wangal man of the Dharug-speaking peoples, of the Port Jackson area at the time of the first British settlement in Australia in 1788. Bennelong served as an interlocutor between the Dharug-speaking peoples and the British, both in Sydney and in Britain.

Located on the waterfront and adjacent to Kissing Point Park, Bennelong Park underwent construction to improve access to the Parramatta River. A new in-river seawall was built to protect the beach at Bennelong Park, which provides easy access to the river and protect the environment.
