ELS Hall Park Playground - Kid's Habitat Workshop + Wildlife Show

Designed for 5-9 year olds by Sydney artist Jade Oakley, this fun and creative workshop aims to engage young children in the concept of habitat. The workshop will include a live wildlife show and drawing lessons with Jade. Artworks created by children will inspire Jade's public artwork for a new playground to be built in the park.

Using art, science, storytelling and play, children will investigate:

  • What native animals live in our area?
  • What animals once lived here?
  • How can we help to enhance local habitat?

Workshop Running Order:

  • Talk and discussion on Habitat (10 minutes)
  • Warm up drawing exercise (20 minutes)
  • Australian Wildlife Display - Something Wild! (60 minutes)
  • Drawing exercise (30 minutes)

During the workshop, participants will produce simple line drawings which will be incorporated in the public artwork for ELS Hall Park playground.

Please note: this workshop has been designed for children aged 5-9 yrs. It is recommended one parent accompanies their child.

Additional Activities:

  • Habitat inspired badge making will take place alongside workshop activities – this will be open to all workshop participants and the general public. Drawings created for badges will be documented and may be used by Jade Oakley in her artwork design for the new playground.
  • Workshop documentation (stills and video) will be undertaken by Delphinus Photography. If you do not wish to be filmed or photographed please advise staff on the day.
