Making Submissions

Anyone may make submissions concerning these applications. Submissions are required to be in writing, and should the submission be by way of objection to the proposal, the submission should specify the grounds of objection. All correspondence should be addressed to the General Manager and can be sent by:

Council has resolved that all submissions received in relation to rezoning and development applications will be publicly accessible on request.

The supply of personal information is voluntary. However if you choose to make an anonymous submission it may be given less weight (or no weight) in the overall consideration of the application.

Applicant: APlus Design Group
Description: Concept Development Application for the amalgamation of lots, confirmation of building envelopes for staged development consisting of basement car park and commercial buildings to accommodate a mix of land uses including a restaurant/café and office premises.
Development Application for Stage 1 construction of a building.
The application will be referred to the Sydney North Planning Panel constituted under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 for determination as the capital investment value exceeds $30 million.

Description: 
  1. Concept Plan Application involving lot amalgamation and the confirmation of building envelopes for the Staged Development to construct two commercial buildings accommodating a mix of land uses.
  2. Stage 1 Development Application for the construction of a roadway.
  3. Stage 2 Development Application for demolition of existing building and the construction of the first commercial building.

The application will be referred to the Sydney North Planning Panel constituted under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 for determination as the capital investment value exceeds $30 million.

Applicant: Karimbla Constructions Services (NSW) Pty Ltd
Description: Site works, excavation, shoring and piling.

The DA for building works on the site has already been notified separately as LDA2020/243.

The proposed development is ‘Integrated Development’ in accordance with the Water Management Act, 2000, as the proposed basement excavation is of a depth that will intercept groundwater levels on the site. The relevant approval bodies are Natural Resource Access Regulator and Water NSW.

Description: Amended plans and documentation for the redevelopment of the Macquarie Shopping Centre have been submitted for the demolition of part of the existing shopping centre and redevelopment of the Herring Road Corner Podium site, Station Plaza and additional deck parking on the Talavera Road frontage. The proposal is the Stage 1 detailed development application under the existing Concept Approval under LDA2015/0655 approved on 10 November 2016.

This application (LDA2018/0498) was originally lodged in December 2018. Following its notification, concerns were raised by the community regarding the removal of the ice skating rink. The application was deferred to enable the applicant to review the design.

The amended plans and documentation retain a new Olympic-sized ice skating rink within the development. This amended detailed DA specifically seeks approval for:

Enabling works, which includes the decommissioning and demolition the existing Cinema and Woolworths Supermarket roof plant, relocation of cinema plant and switch room to cinemas, modifications to the existing central roof plant to accommodate the relocated Woolworth plant and upgrade and expansion of existing cooling towers and up existing boilers at roof level.

  • Demolition of the existing buildings and structures on the Herring Road Corner Podium Site.
  • Construction of a new three (3) storey podium and use as “retail premises” and “entertainment facilities”.
  • Construction of a new Olympic-sized ice skating rink and use as a “recreation facility (indoor)”.
  • Construction of two basement levels under the corner podium including one level to be used as retail premises and one level of basement parking.
  • Construction of two (2) additional levels of deck parking fronting Talavera Road.
  • Creation of Station Plaza, a new publicly accessible plaza adjacent to the Macquarie University Station Portal. Excavation, fill, landscaping, tree removal, public domain improvements and associated infrastructure to support the development.
  • Three (3) new business identification signage zones on Herring Road, two (2) new business identification signage zones on Waterloo Road and a digital screen for public art.
  • 22,605m² of net additional GFA and 500 net additional car parking spaces.
  • New pedestrian access points, and removal of one vehicular crossover on Herring Road. 

The application will be referred to the Sydney North Planning Panel constituted under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 for determination as the capital investment value exceeds $30 million.
