Design may be subject to change

The City of Ryde is building a new short stay car park in Eastwood that will address the existing parking shortage for shoppers in the area and help boost the local economy.

The proposed multi-storey car park will have a minimum of 150 spaces and will be built at the current car park site at 53-71 Rowe Street (currently 49 spaces). The new car park will be for shoppers and is not proposed for use by commuters, therefore providing a great incentive to bring people to Eastwood and help revitalise the local economy.

Council is now asking for your feedback on the design for the new short stay car park. To have your say please see details below.

About the Design

The old Eastwood Brickworks commenced operations in 1912 and is of significance to the local area as it is evidence of major local industry and manufacturing. The Eastwood Brickworks included a quarry and the brickyards used to manufacture bricks and other terra cotta elements. In 2001 the Brickworks were closed, however despite the closure, brick has remained a prevalent local construction material that can be easily found in shops and apartment buildings in Eastwood.

The proposed carpark feature façade design is a graphical overlay of the historical Eastwood Brickworks shale quarry contour. This acknowledges  the historical relevance of the Eastwood Brickworks  while maintaining a visual interest with the introduction of a new contemporary façade solution.
