Kissing Point Park Upgrades

Consultation closed on 11 March 2020

The City of Ryde is seeking community feedback on proposed upgrades in Kissing  Point Park including a Boat Ramp Upgrade and a new Bike and Kayak Hire Kiosk.

Kissing Point Park Boat Ramp Upgrade

The City of Ryde is upgrading the Boat Ramp in Kissing Point Park and have engaged Advisian consultant to design the new ramp facility. We would like to hear your thoughts on issues you face with the existing ramp, what additional facilities you would like to see provided for the boat ramp and any suggestions for improvement that would assist with launching and retrieving your vessel.

Your feedback will be used to help integrate the new facilities with the park.

Proposed Bike and Kayak Hire Kiosk

The City of Ryde has been examining ways to further activate the use of the parks along  Parramatta River including the provision of a bike and kayak hire kiosk. It is proposed that  the bike and kayak hire kiosk also include a small scale café with food and beverage  offerings.

Kissing Point Park, east of the ferry wharf has been identified as a preferred site for the  kiosk due to its accessibility, interface with the river and supporting infrastructure.

Council would like to hear your thoughts on the proposed new bike and kayak hire kiosk at  Kissing Point Park.

Project Update - Proposed Concept Design

Published on 9 December 2020

Based on community feedback, Council has developed a concept design for proposed works at Kissing Point Park including the following upgrades:

  • Widening of the boat ramp to allow for two simultaneous users
  • Car park layout improvements
  • Replacement of toilet block public amenities
  • Additional seating and shelters
  • New fish cleaning tables
  • Provision for boat wash down facilities

The delivery of these park improvements has been made possible through support from Transport for NSW via the NSW Boating Now Program.

This program has provided additional funding on a dollar-for-dollar basis which has allowed for additional improvements to be included in this project including the full replacement of Kissing Point Park public amenities building.

The new building will remain on the existing footprint of the current facility and will provide improved access and additional toilet amenities.

Next Steps

This project will now proceed into detailed design with construction proposed to commence in mid-2021. Prior to construction commencing, a further notification will be provided.
