Parramatta River

RiverCat

The RiverCat travels from Circular Quay to Parramatta with a number of stops along the way. There are two RiverCat wharves in City of Ryde:

• Kissing Point Park, Putney
• Bowden Street, Meadowbank

Putney Punt (also known as the Mortlake Ferry)

The Mortlake Ferry began operating in 1925 and is the only remaining punt in Sydney. It crosses Parramatta River from Hilly Street, Mortlake to Pellisier Road, Putney. The punt carries cars, pedestrians and cycles and is free of charge. The trip takes 5 minutes. 

• Banjo Patterson Wharf, Punt Road, Gladesville
• Kissing Point Park Boat Ramp and Jetty, Waterview Street, Putney
• Wharf Road, West Ryde Wharf and boat ramp into Parramatta River.

Lane Cove River

Running through the peaceful bushland valley of the Lane Cove National Park, the banks of the Lane Cove River are the perfect place for a picnic, barbecue (bring your own wood), or a bushwalk.

Try these:

• Take your canoe or kayak down to Magdala Park, Magdala Road, East Ryde, where there’s access to the Lane Cove River.
• Visit the Kukundi Wildlife Shelter and the Bat and Bush display. Enter from Delhi Road, Lane Cove Rd or Lady Game Drive. Call 8448 0400 for more information.
