Ryde Shine Ability Talent Competition
What is Ryde Shine Ability?
Ryde Shine Ability is a Talent Quest Competition for people with disability who live, work or study in the City of Ryde area.
First held in 2024, the event celebrates talent and creativity, offering a supportive platform for participants to express themselves, follow their dreams, and shine.
Whether you love singing, dancing, playing a musical instrument, telling jokes, acting, or performing a magic trick — we want to hear from you!
2025 Update
Key Dates
- Applications OPEN on Monday 8 September 2025.
- Applications CLOSE on Sunday 19 October 2025.
- Finalists notified by Friday 7 November 2025.
- Final event - Tuesday 2 December 2025.
🏆 Prizes
Top 3 Winners will receive the following:
- 🎥 Professional video production voucher
- 🎟 Sydney Opera House Tour & Dine experience
- 🎤 Opportunities to perform at Council events in 2026
- 📻 Interview with 2RRR radio station
🥇 1st Place Bonus Prize: A voucher for music lessons or a one-year MasterClass membership.
Eligibility & Selection Criteria
- Applicants must live with disability.
- Groups can include People with Disability and one support person per performer.
- Applicants must live, work, or study in the Ryde Local Government Area.
- Applicants must not be professional artists represented by record labels, publishers, talent agencies, or similar.
- City of Ryde staff and Councillors are eligible to apply and be selected for competition but are not eligible to win any of the Prizes.
- Performances may include musical instruments, singing, dancing, acting and comedy.
- Performances need to be suitable for all ages.
- Finalists will be chosen from their video link submitted with the application.
- Up to eight performers will be selected.
- The video must not exceed 3 minutes.
- Video can be YouTube, social media, or cloud file link.
