eCollections

Ryde Libraries offer a fantastic range of online resources as part of your library membership. Accessible for download from a variety of personal devices, you can now read and listen anytime, anywhere!

You will need:

  • A City of Ryde library membership number and password or PIN. Sign up online.
  • A compatible device with Internet connection.
  • The relevant software or app installed on your device.

Below are brief guides on the different services and how to access them from your device.

General Help
  • Make sure your device has the latest updates installed.
  • If using your computer, update your browser to the latest version. If one browser doesn’t work, try a different browser.
  • There are no overdue fees for online items, but please return your books once you are done so the next person can enjoy the book you just finished! Read the guide(PDF, 2MB) on how to return with each service.

  • To download Adobe Digital Editions visit the Adobe website. If you need help transferring downloaded eBook files through Adobe Digital Editions please click here.
  • If you have a library card number with “A” characters, please only enter the library card digits and not the “A” characters. 

OverDrive

Access thousands of popular fiction and non-fiction eBooks and eAudiobooks. Available only to local residents, those who work in the area, and those who study in the area.

You can:

  • Borrow up to 30 items for 21 days
  • Hold up to 10 reservations.

How to Access

Internet browser

Click “Sign In” and log in with your library card number and password or PIN. Choose the title you want and click the “Borrow” button to download and start reading. If there is no available copy to borrow at the moment the button will say “Hold”.

eReader

This service is available to view on your eReader through:

Phone or tablet

Download the Libby by Overdrive app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

Enter in “City of Ryde Library” to add our library to your collection and log in with your library card number and password or PIN.


BorrowBox

Borrow Box logo

Listen along to a wide selection of both best-selling Australian and international eAudiobooks in both fiction and non-fiction titles.

You can:

  • Borrow up to 10 items for 21 days
  • Hold up to 10 reservations.

How to Access

Internet browser

Log in with your library card number and password or PIN. The first time you log in you will be asked to supply an email. Choose the title you want and click the “Borrow” button to download and start reading. If there is no available copy to borrow at the moment the button will say “Hold”.

eReader

This service is available to view on your eReader through:

Phone or tablet

Download the BorrowBox app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

Choose “City of Ryde” as your library and log in with your library card number and password or PIN.

Only one library service can be viewed at one time, so if you’re linked to another library you will need to log out.


Indyreads

Discover quality eBooks and eAudiobooks from independent publishers, self-published authors and local writers. This platform is launched by State Library NSW.

You can:

  • Borrow up to 20 items for 21 days
  • Hold up to 10 reservations.

How to Access

Internet browser

Click “My Account”. Select “City of Ryde” from the drop-down library list and log in with your library card number and password or PIN. Choose the title you want and click the “Borrow” button to download and start reading – there is a selection of readily available titles that you can borrow immediately called “Available Now”. If there is no available copy to borrow at the moment the button will say “Place a Hold”.

Download the Indyreads app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

Choose “City of Ryde” as your library and log in with your library card number and password or PIN.


RBDigital

Browse a wide selection of popular digital magazines and download them to read offline as well as online.

There is:

  • No loan period for digital magazines
  • No loan limit for digital magazines.

How to Access

Internet browser

You will need to register for an RBDigital account to access their online magazines. If it is your first time, select “Create New Account” and enter in your library card number, then fill in your details to create a new account. Choose the magazine you want to read to display the latest issue they hold and click “Checkout” to borrow it.

eReader

This service is available to view on your eReader through:

Phone or tablet

Download the RBDigital app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

If it is your first time, select “Create New Account” and enter in your library card number, then fill in your details to create a new account. Choose the magazine you want to read to display the latest issue they hold and click “Checkout” to borrow it.


PressReader

Gather all your newspapers in one convenient place! Read thousands of digital full content newspapers and magazines from all around the world in different languages.


How to Access

Device How-to
Internet browser

Click “Sign In” and then select to log in through “Library or Group”. Search for “City of Ryde” and enter in your library card number and password or PIN. You will be asked to create an account with PressReader but this is not compulsory. You can browse by country, language or category. Select the publication you want to read and use the calendar to change publication dates if necessary. Click on headlines to get a close-up view of the article and use the green arrow to expand it further.

Download the PressReader app from Google Play Store Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

Log in through “Library or Group” and search for “City of Ryde”, then enter in your library card number and password or PIN.


Other eCollections

During this period while we practise social distancing, other organisations have made their eCollections temporarily available to City of Ryde library members.

NSW State Library

City of Ryde library members can register their Ryde Library cards with the NSW State Library and get access to their online databases and eCollections, including temporary full access to Ancestry. When registering online, you will need to type in the first 7 digits on your card (do not include the last digit) to complete the form.
