The City of Ryde Council Meeting scheduled for Tuesday 29 April was adjourned at 6.30pm due to a fire alarm evacuation interrupting proceedings. The meeting will be scheduled on another date yet to be decided.
Under clause 12(1) of the Protection of the Environment Operations (Clean Air) Regulation 2010 it is an offence to burn refuse in the City of Ryde.
Fires are still permitted for recreational purposes such as barbequing, provided only dry seasoned wood, liquid petroleum gas (LPG), natural gas or proprietary barbecue fuel (including a small quantity of fire starter) is used.
