White Ribbon Day

The City of Ryde is a White Ribbon Australia Accredited Workplace, achieving successful accreditation in July 2021.

White Ribbon Australia is a part of a global social movement working to eliminate gendered violence. They strive for an Australian society where all women and children are safe. Visit White Ribbon to find out more.

City of Ryde is committed to preventing violence and abuse against families and women.

Domestic violence can be perpetrated in various forms, including physical, sexual or verbal abuse, harassment, intimidation, stalking or threats of violence. It can happen to anyone - it doesn’t matter where you live, what your income is, how old you are, or what nationality you are.  Children can also be affected by witnessing domestic violence.

City of Ryde hosts a number of annual events in support of women and family safety including Make a Stand against Abuse in November and International Women’s Day in March.

16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence

To help end domestic violence and abuse, City of Ryde runs a campaign each year centred around the United Nations’ 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. An annual international campaign that kicks off on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and ends on 10 December, Human Rights Day.
