Significant Tree Register
The City of Ryde acknowledges the presence of significant trees within the Ryde Local Government Area (LGA) on the traditional land of the Wallumedegal people. These trees enrich the city's heritage and contribute to a healthier environment.
The Significant Tree Register was created to recognise and preserve trees with unique historical, cultural or botanical significance and also acknowledges the significant value of Avenue plantings and stands of trees.
The register includes trees on public spaces and privately owned properties and offers guidelines for their responsible management and protection for future generations.
The register is continually evolving, as trees reach the end of their life cycle and new additions are recognized. The register operates as a centralised database, providing detailed information about each tree and its significance. However, removal of trees is not prohibited, and approval for maintenance or minor pruning is processed through the Council's Tree Management Application process.
