Grants and Funding Opportunities

Below is a list of some of the primary funding bodies that may be able to support artists living, working, learning and playing in the City of Ryde. Please note, this is not an exhaustive list and it is important to regularly research what grants are currently available.

Don't forget that you may also be eligible to apply for the City of Ryde's Community Grants Program, which supports community-focused, one-off artistic projects.

Australia council

Australia Council for the Arts is the Australian Government’s arts funding and advisory body. They are a major funding body for the arts and run a number of grant rounds each year for things including art projects by individuals and groups, career development and organisational funding.

Create NSW

Create NSW is the NSW Government’s arts and cultural driver, which brings together arts, screen and culture functions in an integrated entity, and includes cultural infrastructure. Create NSW invests in the success and future of arts, screen and culture in NSW through infrastructure, funding programs, partnerships and advocacy.

Cultural Fund – Copyright Australia

The Cultural Fund is the philanthropic arm of the Copyright Agency. The Cultural Fund supports writers, visual artists, publishers and key industry stakeholders to create, award, present, publish, and promote work by Australian writers and visual artists that connects with audiences. They have a number of grant programs that run throughout the year.

Ian Potter Cultural Trust

The Ian Potter Cultural Trust was established in 1993 by The Ian Potter Foundation to encourage and support the diversity and excellence of emerging and early career Australian artists. The Trust's main program offers grants of up to $10,000 to assist early career artists of exceptional talent to undertake professional development, usually overseas.

Myer Foundation and Sidney Myer Fund

The Myer Foundation and Sidney Myer Fund provides grants in Australia across a number of areas, including Arts and Humanities, to improve peoples’ lives in lasting and positive ways. This includes Sidney Myer Creative Fellowship and the Sidney Myer Performing Arts Award.

Screen Australia

Screen Australia offers funding to support the development, production and marketing of Australian screen content, as well as for the development of Australian talent and screen production businesses.

Although ArtsHub is not a funding body, they provide a great database of grants and funding opportunities for creatives across Australia. You can filter grants by location, artform, applicant type and what you are looking to fund.

Australian Cultural Fund

The Australian Cultural Fund (ACF) is a specialised fundraising platform for Australian artists. The ACF was established in 2003 by the Australian Government to encourage donations to the arts. Unlike all-or-nothing fundraising platforms, ACF artists set a fundraising goal, but if it’s not met all donations are still taken into account. Plus, donations over $2 are tax deductible.
