2020 Road Safety Calendar
The 2020 Road Safety Calendar developed by Northern Sydney councils is now available!
This year we took a trip down memory lane and discovered that although a lot has changed in road safety over the years, some things have stayed the same.
We’ve adapted some original Australian road safety campaign posters from the 1950s and 1960s. Despite the fun look, the calendar conveys a serious message – it seems much of the bad road safety behaviour that was costing lives 60 years ago is still with us today.
The number of cars on our roads has increased considerably. Thanks to education, improvements in vehicle design, infrastructure, the introduction of laws, and increased enforcement, the number of crashes on our roads has, overall, been decreasing.
However, there is still a long way to go.
If we all take responsibility for our actions on the road, show mutual respect and be more patient and tolerant of other road users, the roads will be safer for everyone.
The 2020 Road Safety Calendar is a collaboration of Hornsby, Ku-ring-gai, Lane Cove, Northern Beaches, North Sydney, and City of Ryde Councils. The annual calendar has been delivered to Northern Sydney residents since 2001 with the aim of educating and encouraging positive behaviour in all road users, across all ages.
It is available FREE for road users of all ages from Council Libraries, Customer Service, Ryde Aquatic Leisure Centre and various community locations and events.
