2022 West Ward By-election

About This By-election

A by-election will be held on Saturday 15 October 2022 for the election of one Councillor for West Ward. This election is being administered by the NSW Electoral Commission.

The vacancy has occurred due to the resignation of one Councillor. Voting is compulsory for voters enrolled in the West Ward.

If you are eligible to vote in New South Wales and live in the City of Ryde’s West Ward, you must vote in this by-election. If you are not enrolled in West Ward, you cannot vote at the by-election.

  • Tuesday 6 September 2022: Postal vote applications open
  • Wednesday 14 September 2022: Nominations close
  • Tuesday 4 October 2022: Pre-poll voting open
  • Friday 14 October 2022: Pre-poll voting closes
  • Saturday 15 October 2022: Election day
  • Friday 28 October 2022: Return of postal votes closes (6.00pm)

Residents of the City of Ryde (West Ward)

You must enrol to vote if you are an Australian citizen who is 18 years old and have lived in West Ward for at least one month. To update your enrolment details online or to obtain an enrolment form visit aec.gov.au or call 13 23 26.

Non-resident roll

The non-resident roll closed at 6.00pm on Monday 5 September. Council can longer receive applications.

Where to vote

There is no 'absent voting' at local government elections. You must vote inside your local government area or ward.

The NSW Electoral Commission has published a list of pre-poll voting locations and the Election day polling venue.

Pre-poll will be open from 9am to 5pm from Tuesday 4 October until Friday 14 October 2022.
