First elected to the City of Ryde Council in 2008, Councillor Maggio is the second longest-serving elected member, representing City of Ryde’s East Ward.

Clr Maggio is well-known within the City of Ryde as well as outside the LGA for his tireless work advocating for local organisations to ensure Council continues providing venues, facilities, funding and opportunities promoting healthy, active and passive recreational activities and the foundations for wellbeing and a sense of belonging

A father of four, born and raised locally, Clr Maggio is a passionate advocate of sport and other community-based activities for younger members of the community, as a positive influence for life-long professional, academic, social and lifestyle pursuits.

Setting an example for the community he represents is a priority for Clr Maggio, who has embraced the area’s diverse, thriving sporting community. This has included involvement in club administration and as a coach, player and match official in the thick of the action on a City of Ryde sporting weekend. And in the limited time he has to spare, Clr Maggio actively volunteers for local organisations and assisting with community-based events.

As a sole trader in the trades services sector, Clr Maggio is a strong believer in fiscal responsibility and financial sustainability, while also focused on minimising waste in expenditure of ratepayer funds.

Since first being elected to serve the people of Ryde, he has also been an outspoken advocate of the City of Ryde adherence to the principles of transparency, accountability and openness to scrutiny, while prioritising engagement with the community and ensuring its members are always kept informed.

Clr Maggio’s approach to representing his constituents—everyday ratepayers, business people and workers in the City of Ryde—is that their needs, concerns and enquiries are a priority and a fundamental responsibility of local government. He prides himself on being a custodian of the community’s assets and a front-line representative of Council services—always approachable and contactable to empower his constituents to address, resolve or clarify issues. Regardless of who’s on the other end of the phone seeking his assistance, they can be assured Clr Maggio will attend to their needs with urgency and enthusiasm.
