The Parramatta River CZMP has now been certified by the Minister for Planning in accordance with Section 55G of the Coastal Protection Act 1979 and will soon be published in the NSW Government Gazette. The City of Ryde is a member of the Parramatta River Catchment Group (PRCG) along with 11 other Councils including Ashfield, Auburn, Bankstown, Blacktown, Canada Bay, Holroyd, Hunters Hill, Leichhardt, Parramatta and Strathfield Councils, as well as Sydney Water and other state government agencies and authorities.
The purpose of the group is to improve the health of the Parramatta River and the aim is to make it swimmable by 2025. Council is involved in the following initiatives and projects helping to achieve this:
