Flip Fashion Forever - Youth-led textiles upcycling hacks

Next date: Sunday, 10 August 2025 | 09:00 AM to 02:00 PM

Come check out a fun and hands-on fashion demo, where young creatives show you how to upcycle - or ‘flip’ - old clothes and accessories to give them a second life!

Visit us during the Sustainability Festival at Ryde Wharf Markets and get inspired to see fashion in a whole new way.

Every hour, a member of Team Slogue, who range from school-aged fashionistas to fashion school grads - will run a quick demo of their chosen fashion-flipping hack while the rest of the team fields questions and - if you’re game - helps you try it for yourself!

Tweens and Teens love watching and trying these hacks, but all ages welcome and no experience necessary!

Throughout the day, Team Slogue will demonstrate how to:

  • Add eyelets and grommets to make lace-up, corset-style tops
  • Bling out worn shoes to update and hide scuffs
  • Make your own ‘fashion statements’ by re-working logos using couching and applique, also known as ‘de-branding’
  • Make crochet bottle holders with t-shirt yarn
  • Use patching, embroidery and unexpected embellishments to customise denim

All (second-hand) clothes and supplies are provided, so all you need to bring is an open-mind!

Fashion can be fun and planet friendly. By joining, you are:

  • Saving clothes from landfill
  • Exploring and expressing your style
  • Learning simple, creative upcycling hacks
  • Making a positive impact for the planet

No booking needed. Just drop in during the festival and get inspired!
