Swapping is a clever and thrifty way to update your wardrobe, save money and help fight textile waste.
In celebration of World Environment Day, Council and Nina Gbor, founder of Eco Styles, are teaming up to bring a sustainable fashion restyling demo and clothes swap to the Ryde community!
If you have garments in excellent condition that you once loved but are no longer your favourites, join us at Ryde Library for a swap. Plus, discover how to restyle your wardrobe sustainably with a live talk led by Nina Gbor.
Please note there is a 1-hour check-in period before the swap begins. Depending on when you check in, you may have up to an hour of downtime. Feel free to grab a coffee, explore the library, or chat with fellow fashion enthusiasts.
Event Schedule
Check-in: 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Sustainable and Circular Fashion Talk and Restyling Demo: 11:00 AM – 11:30 AM
Clothes Swap Begins: 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM
What you can bring
Bring up to six items items of seasonally appropriate, excellent condition clothing for any size, gender and age. ‘Excellent condition’ means the clothing is clean, pressed, and free from rips, holes, stains or major faults. Only bring items you would proudly give to a friend.
- Tops, shirts, blouses, coats and jackets
- Skirts, dresses and suits
All styles and brands are accepted, provided they're in excellent condition – so keep in mind that items will range from on-trend pieces to older classics. And although we love receiving them, we can't guarantee everyone who brings a designer item will take home an equivalent piece.
What you can't bring
Items are checked before being put out for the clothes swap. If your items are unsuitable, you may be asked to take them home.
- Underwear, socks and swimwear
- Sportswear and activewear
- Anything stained, mouldy, odorous, torn or unclean
- Noticeably worn out, shabby, pilling or frayed items
Swap etiquette
To ensure a fair and fun experience, avoid running or hoarding items. Return unwanted items neatly to the racks, and feel free to share extra tokens with fellow swappers.
