Join us at Ryde Library for a cuppa and biscuits as the Kevinwood Orchestra and Bells will be joined by their Junior Choristers and Junior Players in a programme which includes a touch of French music, celebrating Bastille Day.
Kevinwood Bells – will play Teddy Bears Picnic and other well-known music playing 4-in-hand style on their 3 octaves of bells and chimes.
Kevinwood Juniors – will play Frere Jacques on bellplates and junior bells.
St Kevins Choristers will sing Abt’s “Ave Maria”.
St Kevins Young Choristers will perform some of the music they will be presenting at the forthcoming Ryde Eisteddfod Choral Evening on July 30th – including the very French “Alouette, Gentille Alouette”.
And of course there will be music of the Marseillaise.
About the Group
The Kevinwood Orchestra started off as a Junior Orchestra as a workshop of the Festival of St Cecilia at St Kevins Catholic Church Eastwood in 1976. Kevinwood Bells formed a few years later – and have both national and international performances in their journal, including most recently playing as the Australian Handbell Team in Hammamatsu at the International Concert associated with the IHS International Symposium which included ringers from all round the world. Kevinwood Juniors sometimes play with the adult orchestra but also sing as The Young Choristers – in the Eisteddfod, at local vocal and drama productions. This is a community group, rehearsing weekly (except in January) at the Haseler Centre, below St Kevins at 32 Hillview Road. More information on the website - Kevinwood
