At its meeting on 26 October 2021, Council resolved to provide a space at Putney Park for the Ryde Dragon Boat Club to store their boats on a 12-month trial. This trial will run from Wednesday 15 December 2021 to Sunday 11 December 2022.

During the 12-month trial, Council would like to hear your thoughts on the boat storage facilities at Putney Park and any other feedback you may have.

About the Dragon Boating and Ryde Dragon Boat Club

Dragon boating is a sport where boats with up to 20 paddlers plus a drummer and sweep (steerer) race against each other. It is a sport that brings people together and is a great family activity that all generations can enjoy. 

Dragon boating also encourages engagement between people and parks including enhanced opportunities for all to visit, participate in, learn, respect enjoy and conserve the park and river. 

Dragon boating is a new sport within the City of Ryde area with the Ryde Dragon Boat Club being the first dragon boat club along the northern-side of Parramatta River.
