Community Engagement Report | Constitution Road Infrastructure Upgrade

Published on 06 June 2025

City of Ryde invited our community to provide feedback on the Stage 2 upgrade of Constitution Road to future-proof the road for our growing community and the anticipated increases in traffic volumes. This includes work across five separate phases on Constitution Road between Belmore Street and the western side of the Meadowbank Railway Station, near Bank Street.

The Have Your Say period for the Constitution Road Infrastructure Upgrade occurred between 29 January and 5 March 2025, during which our community could provide feedback via the online survey, email, post, or at one of the drop-in sessions.

A report of the outcomes and feedback from the community engagement is available via the link below. It provides a summary of the key themes identified from feedback received across the Have Your Say period and provides Council’s response to the key concerns and suggestions raised.

An extended version of the report (including the community engagement methodology) is available here.

Council thanks the community for contributing feedback and helping shape the future of Constitution Road. If you have any further questions or requests for information, please email ConstitutionRd@ryde.nsw.gov.au.

NEXT STEPS

Council will now undertake the procurement process to appoint a construction contractor. This process will seek submissions from suitable organisations for the successful delivery of the proposed works.

As outlined in the Community Engagement Report, Council is undertaking a comprehensive environmental assessment for the project, where the scope includes reviewing the impacts such as those mentioned by the community.

Once completed, the outcomes of the environmental assessment, Review of Environmental Factors (REF), will be made publicly available in line with the Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulation 2021. The REF will provide details of the environmental impact mitigation actions proposed by the Council.

Construction is anticipated to commence in September 2025, with the final schedule for phasing the works to be determined by the successful contractor.

Further updates will be made available via the project webpage.
