The City of Ryde is currently undertaking stormwater drainage and road works in Hedgeland Close, Meadowbank. These works are part of Council’s Stormwater Improvement Program and will benefit the efficiency of the drainage network and provide a new vehicle turning area.

When will works be completed?

Following previous impacts to the program due to latent conditions, COVID and unprecedented wet weather, the project has required additional approvals from third parties. Approvals were received late August and as a result, works are now due for completion in December 2023, weather and site conditions permitting.

What are the remaining works?

Completed works include protective works on existing and underground utilities including an oil pipeline, sewer main and gas main, as well as the reconfiguration of the underground drainage, street lighting changes, and continuation of the gabion wall between the upstream channel and the shared user path.

Works currently in progress include road works and reconstruction of the shared user path. Some planting will occur at completion of construction activities.

How will traffic be affected?

The current pedestrian detour will remain in place, and at 146 Bowden Street the visitor’s drive will remain partially closed.

When will the works take place?

Works will continue to be carried out typically Monday to Friday between 7:00am and 5:00pm, and some Saturdays between 8:00am and 4:00pm.

Here is a location plan and key information of the works:
