Draft Community Participation Plan

Consultation closed on 03 November 2019

Recent amendments to the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (the Act) have resulted in a new requirement for all planning authorities to prepare a Community Participation Plan (CPP). Currently, councils outline community  participation requirements in multiple documents including notification development control plans and community engagement plans, or strategy prepared under section 402 of the Local Government Act 1993.

Council's CPP outlines the mandatory community engagement requirements (how and when Council will engage with the community) on planning matters. The CPP reflects the community participation requirements in planning legislation, including mandatory consultation timeframes.

The CPP applies to:

  • Development Applications (including assessment and determination of development applications, including revised plans, modifications and review applications)
  • Plan Making Documents (such as draft Local Environment Plan (LEP), LEP draft amendments and Draft Development Control Plans (DCPs))

The draft Community Participation Plan is on public exhibition for community comment.
