Extension of one-off $400 Jobseeker/Jobkeeper rates rebate applications

Consultation closed on 24 November 2020

In June 2020 Council resolved to provide a one-off $400 rebate for all eligible jobseeker and jobkeeper applicants to be offset against the November 2020 rates instalment. In accordance with the provisions of Section 356 and as outlined in Council’s Revenue Policy and funded from the Domestic Waste Management Reserve.

Pursuant to section 356(2) of the Local Government Act 1993, public notice is given that Council proposes to pass a resolution to allow it to financially assist eligible ratepayers within the Ryde LGA by granting a one off rebate of $400 to be applied against Council Rates in the 20/21 financial year. This is in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in order to assist eligible ratepayers who are receiving the Federal Government’s JobSeeker/JobKeeper Allowance that have suffered financial hardship as a result of the pandemic.

If approved, this means that eligible ratepayers who have not yet applied for the one-off rebate will be allowed to do so until 31 March 2021. The one-off $400 rebate will then be applied to the May 2021 rates instalment.

As this is a one-off rebate, if you have already applied for the rebate and it has been offset against your November 2020 rates instalment you cannot apply again for your May 2021 rates instalment.
