City of Ryde is seeking feedback on the proposal to install ‘No Stopping’ along both sides of Gerard Lane, Gladesville, to improve traffic movement along the laneway.

What are the proposed changes?

In order to improve the vehicle movement and access for emergency vehicles, it is proposed to install No Stopping restrictions along both sides of Gerard Lane. As part of the proposal, the existing No Parking 5am-10am Tuesday will be retained to allow for waste collection access, and the ‘No Stopping’ restrictions will apply ‘At all other times’.

Why is the change being considered?

It has been observed that when cars are parked in Gerard Lane traffic flow is restricted to one-way only. This does not comply with the Australian Standard as the parked cars reduce the travel lane width to less than 3 metres which is inadequate for traffic movement and emergency vehicle access. Installing ‘No Stopping’ on both sides of the laneway will improve traffic movement and access for emergency vehicles.
