The City of Ryde recently undertook a study to improve pedestrian access and safety around Meadowbank Station West.  The study identified a number of issues in the area, including the lack of pedestrian access across Adelaide Street toward Meadowbank Train Station and Meadowbank Park.  As a result, Council is proposing installing new pedestrian crossing points to improve access in the area.

WHAT ARE THE CHANGES BEING CONSIDERED?

In order to improve pedestrian access, Council is proposing the following:

  • Install a pedestrian refuge in Adelaide Street, south of its intersection with Constitution Road (outside property Nos. 74-76 and 91)
  • Install new kerb ramps with kerb extensions in Adelaide Street, between Huxley Street and Deakin Street (outside property Nos. 52 and 59)

We have enclosed the plans showing the location of the proposed changes.

WILL PARKING BE REMOVED?

To allow sufficient access for the new pedestrian crossing points with kerb ramps, and to improve inter-visibility between drivers and pedestrians approaching the crossings, ‘NO STOPPING’ signs will be installed on both sides of the road.
