The City of Ryde is seeking feedback on the proposal to widen and reconstruct Morshead Street, between Berryman Street and Blenheim Road, North Ryde, to improve vehicle movement and safety for all road users. These works are identified in Council’s 2019/20 Delivery Program.
WHAT ARE THE PROPOSED CHANGES?
Council is proposing the following improvements:
- Realign existing kerb and gutter approximately one (1) metre towards the property boundaries on the southern-side, resulting in a wider and safer road.
- Reconstruction of kerb and gutter on both sides of the road.
- Reconstruction of stormwater drainage pits to suit new kerb alignment
- Reconstruction of affected driveways to suit new kerb alignment
- Relocation of utility poles
- Removal of three trees in front of #14 Morshead Street
- Replacement tree planting
- Resurfacing of the road surface

WHY ARE THE CHANGES BEING CONSIDERED?
Morshead Street is a bus route and is currently very narrow for two-way traffic. Realigning and reconstructing the kerb and gutter will improve the width of the road and therefore manoeuvrability and safety for all road users.
