Highly Commended - NSW Local Government Excellence Awards 2024
City of Ryde’s Supporting Inclusive Volunteering for People with Disability project received Highly Commended award in the category – Community Development (LGA population under 150,000) on 6th June 2024.
As part of the project, Community Services Team has designed a program that makes it easier for People with Disability to discover suitable volunteering opportunities and engage with the community. Other deliverables in the project include the development of resources such as a volunteering booklets and videos in English, Easy Read, Simplified Chinese and Korean. Through the project, registered volunteers with disability have the chance to contribute and actively participate in volunteering activities at different Council events, activities, and programs.
Gold Award - Australasian Reporting Awards 2023
The City of Ryde won a Gold Award for its Annual Report at the 2023 Australasian Reporting Awards. The awards are the leading benchmark in government and corporate reporting, with judging determined by each entrant’s ability to achieve overall excellence in annual reporting, provide full disclosure of key aspects of its core business, address legislative and regulatory requirements and be a model for other peer reports.
Winner - Excellence in Multicultural Services Award
City of Ryde was awarded the Excellence in Multicultural Services Award from NSW Public Libraries Association (NSWPLA) for their Job Ready Program in 2023. The Job Ready project demonstrated effectiveness in aiding CALD individuals by increasing their access to resources, enhancing their language and digital literacy, improving their job search skills, fostering community engagement, building confidence, and creating networking opportunities for career development.

City of Ryde’s City Spaces team was highly commended in the categories of Behaviour Change in Waste and Innovation in Planning, Policies and Decision-Making at the Local Government NSW Excellence in the Environment Awards, held on 5 December 2023.

Winner - Local Government Excellence Awards (People, Workplace and Wellbeing)
City of Ryde was awarded the Local Government Professionals Excellence Award (People, Workplace and Wellbeing) in 2022 for its inaugural Ticket to Ryde all-staff conference.

The City of Ryde Environmental Health team was awarded NSW Environmental Health Team of the Year Award in 2021 for their outstanding contribution to the environmental health profession.
Highly Commended - Engineering Excellence Awards
City of Ryde received a highly commended award for the all-abilities playground at Kings Park in Denistone East at the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia (IPWEA) NSW Engineering Excellence Awards in 2022.

City of Ryde was selected as an Employer of Choice in The Australian Business Awards 2021. The Australian Business Award for Employer of Choice (EOC) recognises organisations that develop workplaces that maximise the full potential of their workforce through established policies and practices which demonstrate effective employee recruitment, engagement and retention.

Highly Commended - Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia
The City of Ryde was awarded Highly Commended at the 2019 IPWEA Australasia Awards for Excellence for Multi-Disciplinary Project Management for the Meadowbank Skate Park.
Finalist - National Climate Award
The City of Ryde’s work to tackle climate change was recognised with Council’s Solar PV project at the Ryde Aquatic Leisure Centre (RALC) selected as a finalist in the 2019 Cities Power Partnership Awards.
Honourable Mention - 2021 National Awards for Local Government
City of Ryde was honoured in the 2021 National Awards for Local Government for its Make A Stand campaign. First launched in 2019 as a community march and rally, the campaign has evolved and now features a range of activities and initiatives that are centred around the United Nations 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.

Finalist - Parks and Leisure Australia NSW/ACT Awards of Excellence
The City of Ryde's Meadowbank Skate Park was a finalist at the 2019 Parks and Leisure Australia NSW/ACT Awards of Excellence. The award recognises playspaces that involve a range of stakeholders, create a ‘sense of place’ for their local communities and aid childhood development.
Gold Award - Australasian Reporting Awards 2020
The City of Ryde won its tenth consecutive Gold Award for its Annual Report at the 2020 Australasian Reporting Awards. Council was also recognised with the Chairman's Commendation for this achievement. The awards are the leading benchmark in government and corporate reporting, with judging determined by each entrant’s ability to achieve overall excellence in annual reporting, provide full disclosure of key aspects of its core business, address legislative and regulatory requirements and be a model for other peer reports.
Winner - NSW Public Libraries Association Marketing Award for Public Libraries 2017
Ryde Library Services won the prestigious Marketing Award for Public Libraries for its March to a Million promotion.
The Award recognises marketing excellence by a Council-operated public library servicing a community of over 100,000 residents and was announced at the annual conference of the NSW Public Libraries Association.
March to a Million was a three-month community awareness campaign promoting the services, collections and programs of the five City of Ryde libraries to achieve one million visitors in the 16/17 financial year.
Highly Commended - Australian Service Excellence Awards 2017
The Australian Service Excellence Awards recognise excellence across Australia's most outstanding customer service-driven organisations and individuals.
Part of Council's service to the community is to maintain a high response rate to customer requests. The Customer Service Centre takes more than 80,000 calls a year and resolves 79% of calls at first point of contact. The call centre also has a 4.85/5 courtesy rating.

50:50 Vision Councils for Gender Equity Program
Bronze Award 2010
The Australian Local Government Women's Association (ALGWA) national accreditation and awards program encourages councils across Australia to address gender equity issues within the organisation and among their elected representatives.
City of Ryde was one of 22 Councils to achieve the Bronze Award in 2010 - the first level of accreditation.
Silver Accreditation
Silver accreditation involves self assessment on progress in one or more of four categories of achievement. Councils need to achieve accreditation in three of the four categories of achievement to qualify for the Silver Award. City of Ryde has now achieved accreditation in:

National Awards for Local Government
Category Winner 2011 - Women in Local Government
This award recognises local governments which demonstrate a commitment to providing opportunities to women in decision making and management.
City of Ryde was recognised for our 'innovative, holistic approach to facilitating access to decision making and management opportunities' through a range of programs and initiatives that have resulted in increases in the number of women in management positions as well as an increasing number of women applying for, and being successful in, new internal positions.
