City of Ryde recognised as Employer of Choice

The City of Ryde has been recognised as an Employer of Choice for the second time through the Australian Business Awards.

The Australian Business Award for Employer of Choice recognises organisations that develop leading workplaces and maximise the full potential of their workforce through established policies and practices that demonstrate effective employee recruitment, engagement and retention.

Following Council’s initial Award in 2017, it has continued to build on its People and Culture policies, programs and practices that are designed to support staff. 

A few examples of the City of Ryde's achievements since 2017:

Supporting our Diverse Workforce

  • Implemented a Reasonable Adjustment policy to support our staff with disability in undertaking their duties
  • Targeted Business Administration traineeships for persons of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background and persons with disability
  • Implemented a Family and Domestic Violence Policy
  • Achieved White Ribbon Accreditation
  • Later life work and transition to retirement workshops

  • Increased flexible working provisions
