MOON FESTIVAL 2024

The Moon Festival, which has become an important annual event in the City of Ryde, is being celebrated on Friday 20 September with a special free event for families and kids at the North Ryde School of Arts Community Centre between 5.00 - 6.30pm.

Healing Colours will be hosting our children's arts and crafts activities, where the little ones can create their own personalised paper lantern to take home and brighten up their space. There will also be light refreshments provided.

The City of Ryde's celebration of the Moon Festival underscores its commitment to inclusivity and multiculturalism, fostering a sense of belonging and unity among its diverse population.

DFV HOUSING SUPPORT

At its August 27 Ordinary Meeting, Council resolved that it will continue to advocate strongly to relevant State and Federal Ministers for them to provide additional housing options and services to support women and children experiencing domestic and family violence (DFV).

Council will also conduct a review of its own housing policies with a view to developing a housing category which supports victims of DFV. A report will be brought back to Council for consideration following this review.

Council further recognised the important work of many local and regional community organisations supporting women and children experiencing DFV including, but not limited to, Relationships Australia, The Northern Centre, Women’s Community Shelters, Northern Sydney Homelessness Support Service, Link Wentworth, Salvation Army, and Anglicare.
