The City of Ryde Council Meeting scheduled for Tuesday 29 April was adjourned at 6.30pm due to a fire alarm evacuation interrupting proceedings. The meeting will be scheduled on another date yet to be decided.
City of Ryde’s annual Sustainable Waste 2 Art Prize (SWAP) is a chance for our community to express their creativity through repurposing rubbish and recovered materials. At a time when reducing waste is more important than ever, SWAP presents a fun opportunity to learn new skills and explore the artistic potential of items that would usually be thrown away. Culminating in an annual exhibition, SWAP showcases artworks created from items that were recovered from the waste streams. There are thousands of dollars in prize money up for grabs across various categories for different age groups and artwork types.
Council has created an Educational Resource Guide for teachers and students to make artworks for our SWAP environmental art competition. T his guide is separated into three age groups: 6 - 9 years, 10 - 13 years and 14 - 17 years. Each section consists of art projects suited to each age group that are aligned with the Australian Curriculum and NSW Syllabus Curriculum. These art projects can be adapted for any age including adults.
