Pittwater Road Shared User Path between Victoria Road and High Street

As part of the Cycleways Construction Expansion Program, the City of Ryde has constructed a new cyclist and pedestrian shared user path along sections of Pittwater Road to provide connectivity between North Ryde and Gladesville.

The City of Ryde is seeking feedback on a proposal to construct a shared user path on the section of Pittwater Road between Victoria Road and High Street. This section has been identified to provide a new cycling connection between Epping Road and Victoria Road.

What is a shared user path?

A shared user path is a footpath wide enough for both pedestrians and bike riders, whilst providing safe separation from cars. 

What are the proposed changes?

Council is proposing to construct a shared user path that includes:

  • widening of the existing 1.2m wide footpath to a 2.5m wide shared-user path
  • line marking and signage
  • adjustment of driveway crossovers to accommodate the new path

Will any trees be impacted?

It is a priority for Council to ensure there is minimal impact on trees and vegetation and this has been considered in the draft designs. As part of the proposed upgrade, approximately 22 trees will be removed. However, locally indigenous trees will be planted to replace the removed vegetation following construction.
