Eastwood Pedestrian Underpass

Eastwood Pedestrian Underpass

Reopened in October 2019, the Eastwood pedestrian underpass, which connects the east and west sides of Eastwood, has had a colourful makeover.

The purpose of the project was to brighten the space and act as a graffiti deterrent and reduce anti-social behaviour in the area.

Council engaged public art enterprise Muralisto to complete the urban artwork. The concept design was developed following consultation with Ryde Youth Council and the Arts Advisory Committee. Council also undertook consultation with the community through focus groups and site-specific engagement.

The walls of the underpass are brightly coloured, with vibrant hues of blue, red, orange, green, pink and yellow, while the overhead lights change colour at intervals.
