Carers provide unpaid care and support for a family member of friend. Carers may support someone who has disability, mental illness, alcohol or drug dependency, or who is frail aged. While caring can be rewarding, it can also be challenging. The below services may be able to support you in your caring role.

Carer Gateway is the Commonwealth Government’s online and phone service for carers. The Gateway can provide practical information and resources to support carers. For support and advice, contact 1800 422 737 8am – 6pm, Monday to Friday.

Carers NSW can provide a range of practical and emotional assistance for carers, including support groups, counselling, education and training. Phone the Carer Line on 1800 242 636 between 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Christian Community Aid offers a range of services to support local carers. Contact Christian Community Aid on 9858 3222.

Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre (CRCC) can provide carers with options to take a break through short-term and emergency respite. For more information call 1800 052 222 during business hours or 1800 059 059 for emergency respite

Mental Health Carers NSW supports people caring for someone with a mental illness. MHCN employs a team of telephone operators who will listen to carer’s needs and provide referrals to community support services.
The Carer Connection line (1300 554 660) operates Monday – Friday between 9am and 5pm. 

Family Carer Education Programs - Dementia Australia provides free-of-charge education and awareness to assist families and friends caring for a person with dementia.

Wesley Mission Disability Services are supporting people with disability to achieve their goals in more ways than ever. Their services include housing options, life skills training, help finding employment, in-home support, home modifications and much more.
