Statement of public interest to be considered 

Council will investigate the implementation of a Statement of Public Interest by mid-2023.  This would look at the need, objectives, options, analysis, pathway and consultation on any contentious or significant matters, policies, or proposals.  

Planning Policy Workshop 

Council noted the advice provided by Council’s professional staff in relation to a Planning Policy Workshop and will implement a number of recommendations including reviewing Council’s expense policy in relation to conferences and professional development at the beginning of each new Council term. 

Housekeeping review 2022 planning proposal amendments endorsed 

Council endorsed amendments to the exhibited Housekeeping Review 2022 Planning Proposal based on feedback received and will refer the amended planning proposal to the Department of Planning and Environment for finalisation.  

City of Ryde community grants awarded from 2018 to 2022 noted 

Council notes the community grants that have been awarded for the period January 2018 to November 2022 from its Community Grants Program.  

Acknowledging our market gardens history 

Memory posts will be placed in Waterloo Park, Marsfield and Santa Rosa Park, Ryde, to recognise the history of Chinese and Italian market gardens respectively, and the public plaza in front of North Ryde Library will be named Piazza Bietola.  

Council will also support Macquarie University to identify a scope of works and potential funding source(s) to conserve or restore ‘The Ruins’ and install a bronze statue and interpretive signage in recognition of the history of Italian market gardens in the City of Ryde. 

Dog off-leash areas 

Council will retain the Dog Off-Leash Area at Pidding Park in the existing identified area on the sports fields and expand the designated Dog Off-Leash Area to include the senior and junior sport fields.  

To improve equitable access to dog off-leash areas, Council will also undergo a 12-month trial of unfenced dog off-leash areas at Warrawong Reserve, Eastwood, Brereton Park, East Ryde and Fontenoy Park, Macquarie Park (when not used for organised sport).  

Increased maintenance at Lachlan’s Line  

Council is implementing various steps to address maintenance, traffic and anti-social concerns raised by residents at Lachlan’s Line, North Ryde. Council will continue to engage with resident representatives to ensure that concerns raised and potentially other concerns, are addressed as they arise. 

Expanding problem recycling opportunities in the City of Ryde 

Council will review the RecycleSmart Collection service following the re-introduction of REDcycle recycling services and continue to investigate and promote alternative projects and options to maximise resource recovery and reduce waste to landfill.  

This includes promoting existing services to residents through social media and community programs in place of introducing additional drop-off locations. 

Traffic and parking matters approved by the Ryde Traffic Committee 

Council endorsed a number of recommendations by the Ryde Traffic Committee meeting held in November 2022.  

Provision of electricity supply at Kissing Point Park 

Council will investigate options within Kissing Point Park, Putney for the provision of electricity supply for the leased food truck currently operating at this location.  

Flag poles at Meadowbank Park Memorial 

Council will investigate installing three flag poles at the Meadowbank Park Memorial. 

Improvements to Putney Park 

Council will investigate a Putney Park Action Plan to address various concerns including around signage, vegetation and play equipment.  

Seniors’ use of sauna and spa at Ryde Aquatic Leisure Centre 

Council will investigate extending the free use of the Ryde Aquatic Leisure Centre sauna, steam room and spa for eligible pensioners to 9am-3pm Monday-Friday, inclusive of school holiday periods.  

Water damage to property on Jeanette Street, East Ryde 

Council will liaise with residents, associated utilities and plumbers to report on water damage to properties on Janette Street, North Ryde.
