In 2018 the City of Ryde asked for your input on the management and maintenance of parks and sportsgrounds within the City of Ryde now and into the future.

Based on your feedback, Council has developed two generic Plans of Management, one for sportsgrounds, and one for Parks and General Community Use. These Plans of Management will be applicable to the majority of parks, reserves and sportsgrounds which are managed and maintained by Council.

The purpose of the draft Plans is to propose strategies to protect and guide the future use of these parks and sportsgrounds.

The Minister for Lands and Forestry has directed Council to recategorise a small area of land that formerly housed a building in Marsfield Park from 'General Community Use' to 'Park'.  The category 'Park' more closely aligns with the Community Land core objectives for the use of this area as well as the Crown Land Purpose of public recreation. To undertake this change, a public hearing is required under the Local Government Act 1993 Section 40A.

For more information on the recategorisation and public hearing, click the menu on the right.

The draft Plans of Management are on public exhibition until Sunday 19 April 2020.
