A new regional playground and amenities building will be built in Meadowbank based on the Meadowbank Park Masterplan adopted in November 2019. This project is proudly funded by the NSW Government through the Stronger Communities Fund.
The new playground will be accessible and inclusive to children of all abilities and their carers. It will be located adjacent to an existing skate park in Meadowbank Park, with entry and exit points from Ross Smith Avenue, Constitution Road West as well as the existing carpark on the western side of the park.
The playground itself will be fenced to provide a safe contained environment for children. The design includes various play zones including:
The design includes picnic shelters along with fixed seating for long and short-term use adjacent the various play zones. Shade sails in addition to shade trees are proposed throughout the space to assist in keeping the space cool and comfortable.
The playground design considers both accessible and general parking, including three new accessible spaces proposed within the existing western carpark, along with one new minibus drop-off location off Ross Smith Avenue. The proposed pathway networks allow for easy connections to other existing park areas within the park.
A new amenities building will also be built on the eastern side of the Meadowbank Park. This building will be the primary hub to service sporting user groups visiting the new playground and adjacent sports fields. It will have a brick exterior and Colourbond roof and provide:
