In July 2022, City of Ryde adopted the Green Links Masterplan - a long-term vision for three urban green corridors that support biodiversity, provide active transport routes, and activate open space for our community.
One of these corridors, the Shrimptons Creek Green Link, connects Macquarie Park and West Ryde through pedestrian and cycle paths. As part of its implementation, Council will construct a shared user path between Waterloo Road and Wilga Park, Macquarie Park.
The proposed shared user path will be four-metres wide, accommodating both pedestrians and cyclists. The path will feature lighting for improved safety and accessibility and allow for clear sightlines while preserving as much existing natural bushland as possible. The light fixtures would be 5.5 metres high on a six-metre black powder-coated pole, spaced approximately 20 metres apart.
