Ryde Local Transport Forum

(Formerly known as Ryde Local Traffic Committee)

The Ryde Local Transport Forum (RTF) serves as an advisory body, providing technical review and facilitating coordination of works and events on Council roads. It does not issue approvals or make decisions. Matters relating to State roads or functions such as speed zoning are referred directly to Transport for NSW (TfNSW) and are not dealt with by Council.

The RTF considers the technical merits of proposals against current technical guidelines. Council is not bound by the advice of the Traffic Committee. Should Council recommend contrary to the Ryde Local Transport Forum recommendation, then the matter can be referred to Transport for NSW or NSW Minister for Roads to make a final decision.

Membership

Mandatory membership of RTF is limited to the following stakeholders:

  • One (1) representative of Council (Manager Traffic Services).
  • One (1) representative of the NSW Police Service.
  • One (1) representative of TfNSW.
  • The Local Member of Parliament or their nominee. Where more than one electorate covers the Local Government area, the Members of Parliament, or their nominee(s) are only entitled to vote on matters which affect their electorate.
  • Operator(s) of any public passenger service likely to be affected by any proposal referred to RTF.

Participation

Should a non-mandatory member (e.g. resident) wish to address and attend the RTF on a particular agenda item, the person/entity would need to make prior arrangements with Council staff to address the Forum.
