Learn how to plan, make and sell zines about (almost) anything with Annie in this introductory zine workshop. Want to make comics, tell a story, share your existing art forms or explore a new hand made craft? Zines are perfect for all that and more!
Zines are (usually) self published and handmade books or booklets that can be about pretty much anything - fiction, nonfiction, prose, poetry, comics, portfolios, works in progress... You are bound only by your imagination! The process of making zines teaches students to plan, draft and execute on creative project management skills, to combine prose or poetry with visual imagery to communicate simple and complex ideas, and to finish something creative according to a predefined brief.
Zine making comes with a community of all sorts of creatives, who gather at events called zine fairs to trade, buy and sell zines. It's a fantastic space to test out or try new crafts and concepts, to showcase projects that are ongoing and to find new people to work on new creative projects together.
