School Holiday Programs

The City of Ryde is the second largest provider of free school holiday programs in NSW with capacity for over 2000+ children per year to be taking part in a range of physical activities across the city’s many parks, open spaces, and recreational facilities.

These programs are primarily made available to City of Ryde residents, and a customer profile must be made in order to book tickets. Those in surrounding areas can attend for a nominal fee.

Where possible, we aim to make our school holiday programs accessible and inclusive of children of all abilities, If you have any questions about physical access or inclusion in any of our school holiday activities, please email activerecreation@ryde.nsw.gov.au or call 9952 8222.

All children attending the program must have closed toe shoes and a water bottle, for outdoor programs we also suggest sunscreen and a hat. A responsible adult must attend with all participants under the age of 13 and remain throughout the session.

April School Holidays

Active In Ryde’s kids program is back in 2026, with a range of exciting free activities happening across the City of Ryde during the summer school holidays for all City of Ryde Residents.

The Active Kids Easter Holiday program is listed below, with events running across all weekdays and some additional weekend family events so that the whole family can GET OUT, GET ACTIVE, THIS HOLIDAYS!

Registrations will open on Saturday 4 April, at 9:00am. There are multiple sessions to choose from and spots for over 2000 participants. We kindly ask that when booking, you do not book more than one session, per sport, per day. If space permits, and your child wishes to join a repeat session on the day, they may do so at the facilitator’s discretion.

City of Ryde aims to keep these programs free for all City of Ryde residents, but this is only possible when everyone works together and follows the rules. Please have your tickets available for scanning on arrival to the event. If you are unable to attend an event you have booked, please cancel your ticket, 3 no shows during one holiday period may result in your access to further events being limited or small charge being added to future bookings.

Each activity has listed age groups of suitability; this indicates that sessions are tailored to the participants different skills and abilities. Most often activities are for participants aged 5 to 12 or 13 to 18 years, however some variants may appear, we ask that you check with us before enrolling a child that does not meet the minimum age requirement to avoid disappointment on the day. Please make sure you read each registration page carefully and understand the minimum skills required to participate in each activity.

Please note: These programs are NOT a drop off event, and a responsible adult must be present for the duration of all Active Kids activities.

Outdoor activities do not run in wet weather and/or extreme heat, where possible an alternate indoor venue may be arranged, if this is not possible and the event is cancelled you will be notified by either email or text.
