Do you or a loved one have a lived experience with a disability? Finding it difficult to know where to go to find support? Meet with a disability support organisation for an informal chat over a cuppa.
In recognition of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (3 December) Ryde Library will be hosting representatives from local support, information and advocacy organisations for those living with a disability. Come along and ask your questions to any or all of the representatives while enjoying a special morning tea.
Support service providers onsite during the drop-in session:
- Carer's Gateway - an Australian Government program providing free services and support for carers.
- Multicultural Disability Advocacy Association - MDAA is a not-for-profit organisation and the peak body in NSW representing people with disability from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds. We provide short-term advocacy services with no restrictions based on age, visa status, or type of disability. Our mission is to support and empower people with disability to have a voice and to ensure their rights are respected.
- People with Disability Australia - PWDA is a national disability rights and advocacy organisation. We're funded by the government to provide free, confidential, non-legal, issued-based, short to medium term advocacy support to people with disabilities of all ages.
- Services Australia (Disability Support Pension)
- Uniting NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) Local Area Coordination - coordinates support and services for both people with disabilities and their carer, and more.
This is a drop-in session so you can visit at any time from 10am to 12pm, bookings are preferred but not essential.
